Error during compile freezes IDE

Livecode 8.0 is consistently exhibiting an odd behavior. Any time I either try to execute code with an error, or try to save code that causes the compiler to stop, after clicking the green square to stop the process the circle indicating unsaved changes to the script turns yellow. I can make changes...

Re: Desktop IDE for server scripts

At least as of BBEdit 11.1.4 the BlueMango revolution module is incompatible. Does anyone know another?

Re: Livecode 8: where is geometry manager?

I cannot believe that this feature got left out of the IDE, or rather I very much hope it did not. i am looking forward to figuring out where this ids now hidden...

Re: Adding Objects To Groups

Hi all. There are 2000-odd native words in the dictionary. It may not have been obvious that there was such a command as "create", nor that it contains within it the ability to target a group as a destination. As in learning any language, it takes time to get a decent vocabulary. That is why we hav...

Re: one window app

But there are at least two possibilities for approximating an MDI: - You could make window-like objects in groups; draggable, resizable, and even overlapping, with controls for close, zoom, and minimize - You could have the windows as shown in your screen shot, using a backdrop behind them to keep ...

Re: one window app

Sorry for the delay, life went pear-shaped for a few days. I have already developed most of the underlying SQLite database and have written a few small programs that utilize them. I have not used php, though this might be a great time to learn. Thank you all for your great ideas. This discussion did...

Re: one window app

I wish I could say I was surprised that it turns out to be an outdated, and hideously complex way to go about things. The software in the picture is over 6 years old and has not been updated since. I think I will go with a tab panel rather than all the heavy lifting it would take to do the stack wit...

one window app

I would like to create an app that has multiple stacks open inside a main stack. The sub-windows will be completely contained inside the main window. Something like the attached picture. I am afraid I am stumped as to where to even start.

Thank you,
Greg

VBA - Excel - LC

I am getting information out of a SQLite database and trying to put it into an Excel Template. I am trying to automate the process as much as possible. While I have failed to get the LC "Launch" command to work I did get the following to open Excel: get shell("start EXCEL.exe") from there I use the ...

Re: Make the source code more GitHub friendly

Being new to LiveCode and github, I thought I was doing something wrong when I couldn't get LiveCode stacks to be editable on github. Has there been any substantial progress on this in the intervening year, or has it been decided that it just isn't in the plans?

That worked wonders! thank you. I will go through and fix many other places that were slowing down for very similar reasons.

Re: Slow loading Option Menus

I assume this takes the burden off of the system of actually drawing everything in real time. I will give it a try.

Thank you

Slow loading Option Menus

<ridiculously complex lead in> I have a card with up to 48 groups of controls. In each group of controls is an option menu. Each of the 48 option menus has the same choices available. The available options are set up when a different option menu has a menu item selected. </ridiculously complex lead ...
