Re: nseslo ---> lesson (='.'=)

The lesson has been around for a while and I just meant that he can't remember off the top of his head exactly how the compressed list of words was created. He would have been working on a Mac so he wouldn't have picked up on the issue with decompression. Of course we realise this is not ideal but i...

Re: nseslo ---> lesson (='.'=)

Hi all, I have updated the sample stack on the lesson with a uAllWords custom property compressed in LiveCode which seems to resolve the issue. I spoke to Ali, our resident Scrabble enthusiast and original author of the stack and lesson, and he can't remember exactly where the original data came fro...

Re: playing .m3u8

Hi Jose

You just have a small error in your code, you should be setting the filename property of the player rather that the URL property.

I tested it here and it seems to work.

I hope that helps.

Kind regards

Re: Fitting text in a field.

Just a quick follow up, if you want the properties for a particular control type they are all listed under the Dictionary entry for the control. So the "button" entry has a list of all the properties and messages that apply to buttons.

Re: Fitting text in a field.

Hi Jim Unfortunately you have run into a common and tricky problem, I would advise designing with some tolerances in mind and perhaps using the default fonts. I think the most important thing is to decide whether you want to make your controls larger, where you need to, to fit the text, or make the ...

Re: Missing slides?

Hi Linda

Thanks for letting us know about this. There were some missing slides and a numbering mistake too, these have been rectified and the new zip file containing all 23 sets of slides can be downloaded from the Resources tab of the App Introduction step of the Photos app.

Kind regards

Re: Matchtext - looking for chars in each line of a list of

Hi Seth I think you need to specify what the * is allowed to match, so something like put matchtext(temp,"[a-zA-Z]*" & char 1 of tGuess & "[a-zA-Z]*") This resource, which Charles Buchwald pointed to in the Dictionary comments, is really useful http://www.regextester.com/index.html I hope that helps...

Re: Working with JSON

Hi The best way to use libJSON is to make the stack a substack of your application. You do this by opening the Property Inspector for the libJSON stack and setting its Main stack to your stack. To make the commands and functions provided by the libJSON library available to the main stack we need to ...

Re: Launching Maps and Displaying a Location

Hi I don't think there is a way to display multiple locations on a single, dynamic map by building a URL, not as far as I can find right now. There are a couple of ways you can do it. 1. Using static maps, this just display a map as an image so you can't scroll, zoom etc but you can see multiple loc...

Fitting text in a field.

Hi In yesterday's webinar somebody asked about ensuring text fits in a field. There are 2 ways to do this, you can resize the field to fit the text or resize the text to fit the field. textResize.PNG In this example the code for the "Resize field" button is on mouseUp set the height of field 2 to th...

Aligning controls

Hi everyone

In yeserday's webinar we briefly looked at aligning controls, in the example MobGUI icon buttons.

For anyone interested or looking for more details on this feature there is a lesson here.

I hope that is useful.

Getting Started with LiveCode

Hi In yesterday's webinar there was a question about additional resources for getting started with LiveCode for those who are completely new to programming. I think I forgot to mention what is probably the best resource for beginners, and comes with the LiveCoding School. That is LiveCode University...
