Re: SVG widget guff

I updated by SVGIconPicker stack with some UI niceties:
- Down arrow key in filter field selects next line in icon list
- Up and down arrow keys in icon list change selection
- Cmd/Cntl + F selects filter field
- Shift + Cmd/Cntl + F clears filter and selectes filter field.
- Tooltips added.

Re: SVG widget guff

I've often wished for a icon list picker that could be filtered. Scrolling through all of the icons is too busy for my eyes.

UPDATE: Deleted version 1. See updated stack below, which has UI goodies added.

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment

I thought that it was precisely the encrypt/decrypt functionality that does not exist in LC Community. Are you saying that it is only the ability to password protect stacks and scripts that is exclusive to the commercial versions? The ability to encrypt scripts in stacks is unique to the proprietar...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment

I store the credentials in text files, where I have written out text encrypted with the encrypt command in LC desktop. Then I read the encrypted text in on the server, using decrypt. It sounds like there may be other options. Maybe I should look into using shell calls to encrypt/decrypt. That shoul...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment

This usage scenario would make for an interesting talk at the LiveCode Conference. That's an interesting idea, David. I'll think on that. I consider myself sort of a self-taught novice-to-interemediate when it comes to writing middleware. But that's one of the stories that we can tell with LC--how ...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment

BTW, my use of decryption means I need to use Server Commercial version. Being able to embed credentials in protected stacks is certainly a nice convenience, but not absolutely necessary. The most common middleware for DB access is PHP, which has no common means of protecting scripts. Instead, they...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment

I guess I'm closest to B. I run LC Server on several physical and virtual servers that are wholly owned by my department at the university. That means I can configure them for all or just selected virtual hosts on each server. Typically I will modify the host config file for only those virtual hosts...

Re: Using BackSpaceKey and selectedChunk to Analyze a Word

if the effective textStyle["link"] of char tCharPos -1 of fld "MyField" is true then -- This swiftly and efficiently crashes LiveCode 7.0.2 (rc 2)... guess it depends on your desired outcome to decide whether this one works as great -.- Boom! Crashes in 7.0.3 STABLE as well. That's a bug that ought...

Re: multiple MobileControls INPUT on a card

You may have to set the keyboard type and/or the return key label when you click on the field(s): on openField if the environment is "mobile" then mobileSetKeyboardType "default" if the platform is "iphone" then iphoneSetKeyboardReturnKey "done" end if end if end openField Note the the iphoneSetKeyb...

Re: Play sound with different pitches

Sadly, that's one feature that didn't make the jump from HyperCard to LiveCode. Years ago there was a 3rd party project called something like ShakoBox that attempted to emulate that behavior using MIDI (I think), but I don't know what ever became of it. It may be that it will become possible to impl...

Re: Using BackSpaceKey and selectedChunk to Analyze a Word

Phil, I'd take a little bit different approach. (Watch for text wrap.) on rawKeyDown pKeyCode if pKeyCode = 65288 then # code for the backspace key put word 2 of the selectedChunk into tCharPos if the textStyle["link"] of char tCharPos -1 of fld "MyField" is true then # or maybe 'the effective textS...

Re: Salt Lake Area

None that I'm aware of, Noel. We do quite a bit with LC here at BYU in the College of Humanities, but I don't know of others in the area. If you learn of some, we could set up some kind of event.

Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles

Hi Folks, A few months back I solicited responses on the use-livecode mail list to the general question--What do new users (or even experienced users) find confusing about the LiveCode IDE? Now that the IDE has gone/is going open source on github, I thought I'd post the list here as food for thought...

Re: Retaining Backwards Compatibility in a Changing World

I'm with Pete: Having a tool that could analyze existing code and flag potential problems would go a long way toward easing the pain of transitioning to a newer, non-backward compatible engine. And I would hope that there would be plenty of overlap between releasing the new version and continued sup...

Thanks Frazier,
Do you need details added to the new bug report, or do you know what the issues are?
